As prepaid family sharing is gaining popularity among US consumers, Virgin wants to the first carrier to offer plans. Sprint is adopting its On Cloud technology instead of Virgin’s custom prepaid brand. In August, Sprint had launched the custom prepaid brand through Walmart.

“At Virgin Mobile we are committed to offering customers innovative new wireless options,” said Angella Rittgers, VP of Sprint prepaid.

The new shared data plans offer 4GB data plans to mobile users at $65 per month or 8GB data plan for three users priced at $90 per month. At $115 per month, four user can avail 12GB of data per month with 4G LTE speed. With the end of the data usage, internet speed will be reduced to 2G or EDGE services.

However, Sprint mentioned that video streaming will be dependent on 3G when 4G is not available. A free mobile hotspot feature will be offered with the new line and users will not have to pay any additional monthly fees. Optional parental control features will be offered with device curfew, app restrictions along with flexible international plan options.

Rival T-Mobile had also unveiled a Simply Prepaid plan that offers more data at similar prices. The company is focusing on MetroPCS units for the growing prepaid business while AT&T has been investing for the company’s Cricket Prepaid subsidiary.

Users will require $20 to acquire a new line that will include two months of unlimited music streaming. Walmart customers can avail single-line unlimited plans for $35 per month and will include 300 minutes of talk time, unlimited text and 2.5GB of high speed data. Mehrdad Akbar, VP of Wireless connected home and tablets at Walmart mentioned that they were seeking ways to innovate and worked closely with Virgin Mobile to offer new plans like data sharing.

  1. India has seen mobile application development companies doing great overall few years. Existing IT infrastructure and availability of top mobile developers are some of the key reasons. One can search for top companies in India and then start the due diligence process. Visiting their respective offices is always better to meet the team of developers directly.
