Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information The Next Digit collects when you visit thenextdigit.com, how it is used and the choices you have. The site is operated by The Next Digit Group. Questions about this policy go to [email protected].

What we collect

When you read the site

Like almost every website, our servers receive technical information when you load a page: your IP address, browser type, the page requested, the referring page and the time of the request. This information is used to deliver the site, keep it secure and diagnose problems. We do not use it to build a profile of you.

We do not run advertising on this site, and we do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

When you join the waiting list

If you join our newsletter waiting list, we collect your email address and the page where you signed up. We use it only to tell you when the newsletter launches and, after that, to send it to you if you still want it. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email, or by writing to us.

When you email us

If you write to us, for example with a pitch or a correction, we keep your message and your email address so we can reply and keep a record of the conversation.

Who processes your information

We use a small number of service providers to run the site. They process information on our behalf and only for the purposes described here.

  • Our web hosting provider, which stores the site and its server logs.
  • Our content delivery and security provider, which protects the site and delivers pages quickly.
  • Kit, our email platform, which stores the waiting list and sends email on our behalf.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.

How long we keep it

Server logs are kept for a limited period for security and troubleshooting. Waiting list addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Emails are kept for as long as they are useful for the conversation they belong to.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to receive a copy of it. Write to [email protected] and we will respond within the time required by applicable law. If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.

Links to other sites

Our articles link to other websites, including vendors and official sources. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they handle your information.

Children

The Next Digit is written for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date it was last revised.
