Apple releases its Q3 2014 earnings; profits rake up

Although critics hold the opinion that the company has lost the track, Apple’s profit scale in Q3 is phenomenal. The fiscal third quarter report has been released by the company on Tuesday and the revenue is adjudged at $37.4 billion and the profit is clocked at $7.7 billion.apple_office-1280x800

It is a stark rise in terms of profits when compared to the third quarter of the year 2013. In the same year, Apple generated revenue of $35.3 billion and net profit of $6.9 billion.

$1.28 per diluted share has also been earned by Apple in the third quarter of the year 2014. This is in contrast to $1.07 diluted share the company recorded in the third quarter of 2013. A cash dividend of $0.47 has also been recorded from the common stock of the company.

Although the profit scale and performance of Apple in the third quarter is magnificent, but the stats fell short of the estimated profit value of $37.99 billion proposed by Wall Street.

The CEO of Apple, Tim Cook stated:

“China honestly was surprising to us; we thought it would be strong, but it went well past what we thought.”

Results of iPhone:

The sales count of iPhone has been surprising the market guru’s year after the other. In this quarter, the revenue of Apple from iPhone has been calculated at $19.75 billion. This is a high-end result as compared to the revenue count to $18.1 billion the last year. However, the sales of iPhone were down compared to the second quarter.

Result of Macs:

Apple feels the pride in claiming that it has sold 4.4 million Macs in the third quarter of 2014. This is a good number as compared to 3.7 million units in the year 2013. When compared to the second quarter, the sales of Macs also increased by a fair degree in the third quarter.

iPod and iPad:

Apple’s iPad remains to be one of the most popular gadgets produced by Apple. However, it has registered low results in this quarter. Around 13.3 million tablets were sold in this quarter as compared to 14.6 million units sold in the year 2013. As in Tim Cook’s words, “The iPad’s sales met our expectations, even though I realize they did not meet yours.”

Apple iPod sales showed a little improvement from the second quarter and registered a sales count of 2.9 million units as compared to 2.8 million units sold in the second quarter. However, it is a low figure considering the sales count of iPod in the third quarter of the year 2013 which accounted for 4.6 million units.
