LG G3 in Canada on August 1; for Rogers, MTS, SaskTel, Bell and Videotron

When LG announced the global release date for its flagship LG G3 smartphone, Canada wasn’t there in the list of countries. Now, wait is over as LG has confirmed the launch in Canada on August 1 through the popular carriers – Rogers, MTS, SaskTel, Bell and Videotron.lg-g3-canada-poster

The successor of LG G2 will be coming to Wireless Wave, The Source, Wireless Etc, Tbooth and Wow Mobile as well. That means, LG G3 will be available for all the carriers these companies supports.

The Canadian version of LG G3 smartphone to come with less bloatware than its predecessor. The design and build quality of the handset has been improved with special optimization for Canadian networks. The company has added LTE on AWS support and the phone supports the 2600Mhz and 700Mhz spectrum as well.

Indirectly pointing at LG G3’s camera feature, LG Canada’s Head of PR Court Elliot said in a statement:

“We’ve listened to our customers; we’re launching this device only six or so months after the G2, and we’ve learned a lot from that launch.”

LG G3 comes with the same 13MP camera with Optical Image Stabilization that was present in LG G2, but the new handset to feature much enhanced autofocus system. LG G2 launched in Canada just about 6 months ago.

LG’s new flagship device has already created buzz in its domestic market by surpassing the initial sales numbers of Galaxy S5. LG has managed to outsell its newly launched LG G3 flagship devices against Samsung’s Galaxy S5 in South Korea and that too in 3 to 1 ratio. But we have to wait for the success of LG G3 in Canada (and other global markets too) after the launch of the device.

To speak of the exact specifications, LG G3 with plastic body that looks like a metal, has a 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor chipset with 3 GB LPDDR3 RAM to its support. LG G3 device sports a 5.5 inches IPS QHD display with the lenses ranging up to 13MP. Other key specifications are, 32 GB of internal storage space, 2.1MP front camera with enhanced selfie mode, micro SD slot, 146.3 x 74.6 x 8.9 mm dimension, Adreno 330 GPU, 3,000mAh removable battery and unsurprisingly, Android 4.4 KitKat.

LG has also improved its user interface over Android firmware by further flattening and simplifying it. The company has also introduced the G3 specific features such as improved keyboard, file content locks and few others. Its popular Knock Code is also present in the new handset, which was first debuted on LG G Flex.

LG G3’s Canadian price information is not available yet. But, it won’t be higher than that of its US counterpart. One can expect a price range between $600 to $700.

LG thinks the summer launch of LG G3 in Canada during the Back to School season could help the company to sell more units to students. Will students gets attracted towards the shiny new LG smartphone?
