The agony for the General Motors (NASDAQ:GM) continues as the company has issued another order of recall of vehicles from the market. General Motors has already made a number of recalls in the year 2014. Already of the back foot, the company has been forced to make another recall of over 512000 Chevrolet Camaro Muscle cars made during the period of 2010 to 2014 for ignition switch issue.
Astonishingly this is yet another huge number when compared to the size of the recalls made by various companies in the year 2014. The year 2014 has not even crossed the half way mark but the woes of General Motors seem to have doubled this year.
The most intriguing fact for most of the experts long the field of automobiles is the fact that the Chevrolet Camaro is also suffering from ignition issues, similar to the one that led to a massive recall of Chevy Cobalts and other older sedans from General Motors. Although this is not the trouble with the wiring or the circuits, the issue is with the general build of the car.
“Discovering and acting on this issue quickly is an example of the new norm for product safety at GM,” said Jeff Boyer, vice president of GM Global Safety.
The design of the Chevrolet Camaro built within 2010 to 2014 is such that in case of a bump, the knee of the driver is touching the ignition key resulting in an immediate stop. The sudden stop of the Chevrolet Camaro can easily result in a huge accident on the roads with heavy traffic.
Considering the risks involved, the General Motors have issued the orders to bring back the cars such that no more tragedy occurs. The year has already seen deaths in accidents due to faults in the ignition sphere. General Motors has already pulled up more than 16.5 million cars in whole of North America this year.
