Samsung UK rolling out Android 4.4.2 KitKat for Galaxy S4 & Note 3

Samsung has began to roll-out latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat firmware update to its Galaxy S4 and Note 3 smartphones in UK and now, only unlocked handsets are getting the update.

According to the report, Samsung will be rolling out the KitKat update to these handsets that are bound to a specific carrier very soon, in March 2014. The update size is around 380MB and available on both, via OTA and via Samsung KIES.

The new software update will come with all Android 4.4.2 KitKat features with translucent notification bars, cleaner app icons and texts, better lockscreen with dedicated camera shortcut and support with full-screen album art in music-player and a new refreshed dialer. This update also brings some user interface enhancements and performance improvements.

As the latest mobile operating system by Google is using very less memory, compared to the older updates, the handset’s performance and battery life will be improved after the update.

Although, Samsung kicked off the firmware update for Galaxy S4 in January and for Note 3 in February, many users reported of unavailability of the update yet. According to the report, Samsung planned to complete the roll-out by the end of this month in all countries and all carriers.

Recently, Samsung updated T-Mobile Galaxy S4 and Note 3 with the Android 4.4.2 KitKat firmware.
