Sony has sold more than 5 million units of its latest PlayStation 4 gaming consoles, sparing the three weeks from its sales target of end of the fiscal year, ending in March.
In last September, Sony announced that it has plans to move 5 million PS4 gaming consoles by the end of the fiscal year 2013, but the company has just announced that as of February 18, it has sold 5.3 million devices, 3 weeks ahead of its actual sales target.
Sony also announced that its PlayStation 4 will be launched in its homeland Japan on February 22nd and the sales numbers could rise up to 7 million before the March-end.
When the consoles launched in United States, it crossed the 1 million sales mark in just 24 hours, so does the Microsoft XBox One. Although Microsoft manage to sell 1 million unit in US in December month, Sony PS4 gained momentum and sold at 2:1 ratio against the Xbox One. Sony sold 4.2 million units by the end of 2013, worldwide.
