There is a possibility that Samsung could launch its next flagship, Galaxy 5 smartphone on February 24th, as the company has announced and invited for its Unpacked5 event at MWC 2014 Barcelona.
The South Korean tech giant hasn’t revealed the secret behind the name Unpacked5, but the title suggests that there would be a Samsung Galaxy S5 to be unveiled at the event at 20:00 CET. Last year, Samsung has sent invitation to journalists with the tagline “Ready 4 the show,” for the 14th March 2013 event held at New York City before unveiling the current Samsung Galaxy S4.
However, when contacting to Samsung, a spokesperson said “We can’t tell you what ‘5’ means.” That could keep the media’s eyes open until the event unfolds. Previous rumors suggested that the Galaxy S5 could be unveiled at the MWC but later one of the Samsung’s executive said that the flagship will be launched in a separate event later in April, but not in Mobile World Congress.
Samsung could launch its Galaxy S5 with the eye’s iris scanner for security, in response to the Apple iPhone’s fingerprint scanner. The company could also reveal its improved second generation Galaxy Gear smartwatch along with the flagship product. We will be covering the entire MWC event to unfold everything in front of our readers, stay tuned.
