Samsung has announced a new version of 15.6-inch ATIV Book 9 2014 Edition ultrabook with improved display, lossless audio and touchscreen feature at CES 2014 event held at Las Vegas.
The new 2014 Edition of Samsung ATIV Book 9 has got a boost in display resolution, from 1,600 x 900 to 1,920 x 1,080 and the screen size has been increased from 15-inch to 15.6-inch. But compared to the 3,200 x 1,800 display resolution of 13-inch ATIV Book 9 Plus (2013), the pixel density of this 15.6-inch ultrabook seems a disappointment for the consumers. However, the company has introduced the brighter display (300 nits vs last year’s model’s 250 nits) and touch screen feature to the ultrabook, that could try to ease the disappointment.
Apart from the above changes, the new ultrabook also features a regular HDMI port, 0.5 pound heavier build and 0.05-inch thicker than the previous model, with 4 pounds weight and 0.63-inch thickness.
The battery runtime has been increased, but not because of the battery upgrade. Battery remains same but the newly introduced Intel’s Haswell processors rises the battery runtime from 10 hours of previous models to 14 hours.
Samsung introduced two new models based on the specifications – a Core i7 processor model with 256GB SSD and another is a Core i5 model with 128GB SSD. The company hasn’t revealed the price and availability details yet, but it’s expected to enter the market as soon as next month.
