As promised, Apple has announced that it new Mac Pro systems will be available for sale from Thursday, December 19th onwards, starting from $2,999 in U.S and in U.K. with the starting price of £2,499.
Apple has announced the Mac Pro on October 22 with completely refreshed case design, changed from industry standard rectangular shape to a new cylinder shape with round corners to reduce the space at around 1:8 ratio against the previous models.
The new Mac Pro comes with 4, 8 and 12-core Intel Xeon processors with speeds upto 3.9 GHz and 2 versions of AMD FirePro high-end graphics cards and Apple claims that these GPUs will increase the graphics performace up to 8 times better than Mac Pro predecessors. A new “thermal core” feature introduced in the design, which keeps the workstation cool by pulling the air from bottom to the top of the system.
About the storage and memory, Apple said,
“PCIe-based flash storage delivers sequential read speeds up to 10 times faster than conventional desktop hard drives, and ECC DDR3 gives the new Mac Pro up to 60GBps of memory bandwidth for seamlessly editing full-resolution 4K video while simultaneously rendering effects in the background.”
The Mac Pro seems to be heading towards the future of pro desktops with unique identification as the company did when launching their every popular devices.
Apple Mac Pro price and availability:
Mac Pro comes with the initial price tag of $2,999, for the configuration with a 3.7GHz 4-core Intel Xeon E5 processor with up to 3.9GHz speed, dual AMD FirePro D300 Graphics Processing Unit with total of 4GB video memory, 12GB of RAM and 256GB PCIe-based flash storage. Similar device with 6-core processor and GPUs with total of 6GB video memory and 16GB of RAM is priced at $3,999.
You can also configure the Mac Pro as your needs with 8-core or 12 core processor, GPUs, up to 64GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage and the pricing will come accordingly.
