Ming-Chi Kuo is a KGI Securities analyst and has sources regarding the supply chain of Apple in Asia. The new details cast doubt on the second generation of iPhone SE 2. Kuo indicates that Apple might not have enough development resources to be in charge of launching another iPhone. Apple already has three new models on their way, including a second-generation of iPhone X.
Rumor has it the new generation of iPhone X will feature a different internal design. Furthermore, Apple also prepares the launch of a larger version dubbed iPhone X Plus and a less expensive 6.1-inch iPhone with Face ID. Hence, due to this busy schedule, in case Apple really has time for a new iPhone SE 2, then it might not feature big changes.
Is Apple going to launch iPhone SE 2?
However, the device might have a faster processor and most likely a lower price, too. Kuo says that the iPhone SE 2 might not feature iPhone X-like characteristics, with 3D sensing for Face ID or wireless charging. Most of the sources which revealed rumors about the potential launch of iPhone SE are based in Asia. The latest rumors indicated that Apple would launch the iPhone SE 2 in May-June 2018.
Furthermore, they have also said that the new smartphone might feature wireless charging. Apple did not confirm any of these rumors. The current iPhone SE looks a lot like the iPhone 5s, being powered by an A9 chip and having 2GB of RAM.
In case Apple decides to launch a second-generation of iPhone SE, we still need to wait for the company’s confirmation. So far, Apple is preparing to launch three new iPhone models until the second quarter of 2018. The company has not completely refreshed the iPhone SE since March 2016 when it first launched it.
