The Chinese giant, Huawei does not receive US carrier support for its new Huawei Mate 10. Richard Yu, the CEO of Huawei’s consumer business, talked about the US availability and the features of the new smartphone during a CES keynote on January 9th. The company expected AT&T to partner up in order to sell the device and offer carrier support in the US.
However, this hope was smashed. Since the carrier refused to sell the product, this has disappointed lot of consumers together with the company itself. Besides this bad news that Huawei received on Monday, January 8th, it appears that Verizon also refuses to bow down and sell the new Huawei Mate 10. This drama that started at CES reminds us of the previous security concerns regarding Huawei’s products.
The new Huawei Mate 10 does not have US carrier support
Apparently, the company was suspected to be affiliated with the Chinese government. Hence, in 2012, the US House Intelligence advised US companies to avoid buying Huawei products. Nevertheless, at that time, the government argued that the ban was not concerning phones. The US carrier AT&T did not comment on the reports. The company says that it did not acknowledge the rumors regarding a new Huawei phone.
On the other hand, Verizon did not even want to comment on this problem. Regarding the security problem, Richard Yu argued that the new Huawei Mate 10 Pro obeyed the strictest privacy and security standards. The problem is that some people judge the products this company develops even before testing them or learning something about the company.
Unfortunately, the new Huawei Mate 10 Pro lacks a US carrier support since both Verizon and AT&T refused to sell the new smartphone. In order to promote the smartphone, the company hired Gal Gadot to promote the product, becoming chief experience officer.
