A new thimble-sized cell phone has just become the world’s smallest working phone, taking minimalism to a level some might not have thought possible.
Zanco Tiny T1 is the Currently Smallest Working Phone
The Zanco Tiny T1 is a cell phone no bigger than a thimble. Nonetheless, it has been quickly gaining attention for its miniaturized features, lightweight design, and downright cute appearance. Despite appearances, it’s no novelty, as it currently holds the world record for the smallest working phone ever made.
Unlike modern smartphones, the Tiny T1 has cut down on features so that only the bare essentials remain in its design. It features a microphone and speaker, a USB charging port, a nano-SIM card storage slot, and a functioning keyboard.
There is also a lanyard attachment space to allow people to keep better track of it, as its small size could easily lead one to lose their phone.
Zanco recommends the Tiny T1 as a backup phone for emergencies or as an accessory, as its lack of features make it somewhat impractical compared to a standard cell phone.
As a fully functioning phone in its own right, however, it can send and receive calls and texts without issue, allowing it to work perfectly if need be.
Though originally created as a joke, the Tiny T1 is the culmination of two years of hard work and an extremely successful Kickstarter campaign raising more than $100,000.
“We’re proud to introduce the world’s smallest mobile phone,” the campaign says in its introduction. “It’s so tiny, you won’t believe it’s real!”
