The Motor Trend magazine named Alfa Romeo Giulia to be the Car of the Year. Among the finalists, there were the Tesla Model 3 and the redesigned Honda Accord. The SUV of the Year, according to Motor Trend is the Honda CR-V and the Truck of the Year is the Ford F-150.
In order to obtain these awards, a car must have been redesigned for the 2018 model year or must have been substantially redesigned. Manufacturers offer eligible examples for the staff of this magazine which start testing the models on real roads. Unfortunately, Americans have had little experience with Alfa Romeo. This vehicle stopped being available on the U.S. market about 20 years ago.
Alfa Romeo Giulia is the car of the year
Since its return, the new Alfa Romeo Giulia is the only one available in the U.S. In 2014, in the U.S., the 4C model went on sale. Now, Giulia is a much more compliant ride. Ed Loh, the editor of Motor Trend, argues that the base model is even more spectacular than the Giulia Quadrafoglio. The Giulia Quadafoligio features a 505-horsepower engine while its price starts at $72,000. On the other hand, the base model is only $38,000.
Loh argues that the rear-drive base model with 280 horsepower, the Q2 Giulia is the real deal. Motor Trend conducted numerous comparison tests. Besides its extraordinary driving performance, the Alfa Romeo Giulia also has an impressive design. When it comes to the rest of the models, Tesla barely offered other journalists apart from Motor Trend to test its Model 3. Back in 2012, the Tesla Model S received the Car of the Year title.
The Alfa Romeo Giulia vehicle has extraordinary features which make the car qualify as the Car of the Year. The Motor Trend magazine developed a series of tests to reveal which of the newest vehicles can compete for the Car of the Year title.
