Life is Strange: Before the Storm, a Journey into the Past

Chloe in Life is Strange: Before the Storm

Life is Strange: Before the Storm is the prequel to the popular video game which came out in three separate episodes. However, this initiative could have gone really bad because the development team behind it is not the same from the first one. Deck Nine made these prequel episodes, also three. This time, the main characters are the very mysterious Chloe and Rachel Amber, who also appeared in the first game. Fortunately, the game doesn’t come across as a pale attempt to extend this story. On the contrary, it brings up and finishes certain things that were left unanswered during the first game.

Life is Strange: Before the Storm

There are changes that took place during the development of this game. The most important one being the replacement of Chloe’s original voice actor. The Emmy-winning Ashly Burch didn’t borrow her voice this time, but she remained as a writing consultant for this game. And her influence is obvious. Maybe this was the key to making this game so good, despite being developed by another team. And while the game does justice to the original Life is Strange, it’s by no means perfect. Many people have admitted feeling a connection with Chloe, while others said that they don’t find themselves in her. After all, this is a game that speaks to you in the same way that your past speaks to you. You will understand it or you will simply paly it. And there’s nothing wrong with this.

It all begins when Chloe meets one of the most popular girls at her school, Rachel Amber. She throws herself into a tornado of feelings and dangerous habits. Chloe is not afraid to speak her mind even if sometimes rage fills her.

A worthy prequel

Maybe the most important part of Chloe’s personality is how she manages to be such a relatable person. The developers really did a very good job here and made her a real teenager. Looking from outside, Chloe’s behavior might be a bit of a cliché. But after all, this is how almost all teenagers feel and act like. During the events of this game, Chloe struggles with the disappearance of her best friend Max from her life. As we know from the first game, Max moved away. All in all, Life is Strange: Before the Storm is a worthy prequel to an amazing first game.
