At this year’s E3, Sony didn’t announce too many new titles. Instead, the company chose to focus more on already popular franchises like “God of War 4” or “Uncharted: The Lost Legacy”. However, there was one reveal that took everybody by surprise. Sony officially announced “Monster Hunter World”, a new game which will be available for PS4, Xbox One, and later, PC. The thing with “Monster Hunter” is that it was never a big deal in the West. It never quite broke through that barrier so a lot of people at E3 were probably not impressed at all because they didn’t know what it was all about.
“Monster Hunter World”
Capcom developed the “Monster Hunter” action-RPG series. In the beginning, it was available for the PlayStation 2. However, Japan really started loving it only after “Monster Hunter Freedom” hit the PSP. The co-operative multiplayer where people need to hunt monsters together became a true phenomenon in Japan. It even sold over 40 million units, mostly in its home country. Now, “Monster Hunter World” represents a big step forward for the series mainly because it’s so technologically advanced. It’s also the first time Capcom has made a new Monster game for such a powerful system. The original and sequel were for the PlayStation 2, the third was for the Wii, while the fourth and Generations came out on 3DS.
These developments undoubtedly make it the best-looking game in the series. Capcom also made some environmental changes. The maps will no longer be fragmented and you will not have to wait to go from one place to another. Moreover, the company said that the environment will behave like a living organism which sometimes the players can use to their own advantage. The style of play is also very different from the previous titles.
Lots of changes
According to what the trailer displays, a single player is making his way through the environment using stealthy techniques. Then, he finds a monster, manages to get on top of it and kills it. The game will also have a multiplayer mode. During it, you will be able to send out flares to signal other players that you would like to join them. The game will come out internationally sometime in “early 2018”.
