Oculus launches 30 VR games, including 20 new titles. The company has announced that the new goodies will become available later this year. The batch of virtual reality (VR) games comes in addition to the Touch Controller headset also planned to be unveiled at the end of the year.
Expect to get your hands on Oculus Studios games such as Insomniac’s Unspoken, Harmonix’s Dead & Buried and Rock Band VR, Sanzaru’s VR Sports Challenge, The Climb by Crytek, along with independent games like Opus’ Fishing Challenge VR, Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope by Croteam, Schell Games’ I Expect You to Die, Funomena’s Luna, Other Ocean’s Giant Cop, Job Simulator by Owlchemy Labs, and Northway Games’ Fantastic Contraception.
The company states that this is only the beginning. Expect to read about hundreds of additional titles that are currently in development. The full line-up will be revealed in the fall.
Virtual reality is quite new to gamers, although Oculus and Samsung have brought it closer to the field. VR replicates a real or imaginary environment allowing the user to experiment the three-dimensional environment by interacting with it during the game.
With the help of headsets such as the ones designed by Oculus, you don’t need much else. VR gaming requires three things: a headset, a PC/console/smartphone, and input (such as controllers, head tracking, hand tracking, and others).
On June 13, Oculus has also revealed four new Touch Games. First, we have Wilson’s Heart by Oculus Studios and Twisted Pixel. This is a psychological thriller that takes advantage of hand gestures to let the user interact with the game’s surroundings.
Another exciting game is Ripcoil by Oculus Studios and Sanzaru Games. More on the action side, the new development lets you go one on one with a player by launching, catching and punching a Ripcoil disc.
Then we have Killing Floor: Incursion by Tripwire Interactive. This VR shooter puts you in the shoes of an elite soldier. You have to eliminate monsters with different kinds of weapons and fight for survival.
Last but definitely not least, Superhot is a first-person shooter in which you dodge bullets, fight enemies, return fire, and more.
As Oculus launches 30 VR games and continues to push the boundaries of VR gaming, are we to soon see the end of “traditional” games?
