Do you often have to switch between your personal Instagram account and the one you have for your small business? Does the idea of being able to just hop easily from one to the other induce you a warm feeling of happiness?
Then here’s some good news for you: the multiple account support that surfaced in the Android app late in 2015 is apparently in a testing phase for iOS, as well. Currently, the feature seems to be limited to a few select users, but expect to see it in the following weeks on your iPhone.
But you can also check and see if you’re among the lucky ones to get the early release; according to Latergram, you can discover the option in the Settings menu view, close to the bottom (look for “Add Account”).
If the new feature has made it on your smartphone, you should be able to add multiple Instagram accounts to the app and make an easy switch between them without having to log out each time.
After you’ve added an account accordingly, reports say you’ll be able to access more than just one Instagram account, with their respective messages, photo feeds, and comments. Say goodbye to the annoying logging in and out each time you want to post another great #foodporn picture on your gourmand account.
At the same time, you don’t have to worry about your push notifications, because they will let you know which account is receiving double taps, comments, or updates. The new feature has been long awaited by users who wanted to save time and effort in managing different Instagram accounts on the same device.
According to 9to5 Mac users had previously turned to third-party Instagram accounts, but those were removed from the App Store on grounds of violating privacy policies. Thankfully, the real deal is about to roll out gradually over the following weeks.
Considering that this version is still in the developing phase, some adjustments might be made to the iOS app after actual users give feedback about its functionality. Should adjustments be made, new updates might roll out in the next months.
As for the Android app, Android Police explained it is only available in the version 7.12.0, which can be acquired by signing up in the official Play Store beta testing program. You should be able to access the “Add Account” option at the bottom, which works exactly like the one in the iOS version.
