Google Inc’s (NASDAQ:GOOG) Nest ‘Learning’ thermostats are all set to make way for Apple’s HomeKit and HealthKit in the various Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) retails all across the United States.
The exit has probably come a bit quickly as Apple seems to be focusing on paving a smooth way for its HomeKit and HealthKit, which in the presence of Nest’s learning thermostats would not have been possible. It seems that this is the last of the nails in the coffin of the long and healthy relationship of Nest and Apple.
Nest was originally founded by Tony Fadell and Matt Rogers, the former designers of iPod and iPhone. Now, since Nest is an acquired company of Google, Nest’s learning thermostat and Apple’s HomeKit are competitors and it has no place in the Apple retail stores. The interesting fact is that Apple had announced HomeKit soon after Google acquired Nest and to which the experts had stated that another rivalry is in infancy.
Apple’s HomeKit will allow you to control certain devices like thermostats, garage doors, electric bulbs, television, etc. with your iPhone using Siri at ease. But the primary issue is that there are not a lot of compatible products available in the market currently. What this means that Apple is certainly on the backfoot!
The experts blame Apple for creating such a messy situation for its HomeKit and HealthKit. Apple has shown a lack of serious indulgence into things, which in turn has forced the manufacturers to keep productions of compatible devices on hold. But the step to move the Nest learning thermostats from various Apple stores in the United States probably indicates to something positive from Apple. The truth is that there is certainly a great sense of anticipation and expectation about Apple HealthKit and Homekit. We will have to wait and see how things turn out.
