Microsoft itself confused about Surface RT naming

One of the Microsoft’s Surface tablet PC name is Surface RT. After year of launching, they think that “RT” name confused the customer. Jack Cowet, the product marketing manager of Microsoft Surface speaks to ARN that confusion of “RT” naming in among consumer. Further he said, They are dropping “RT” naming from next 2nd generation Microsoft Surface tablet PCs.


“We think that there was some confusion in the market last year on the difference between Surface RT and Surface Pro,” said Cowett. “We want to help make it easier for people, and these are two different products designed for two different people.”

“RT” naming does not make sense to consumer and “RT” means nothing to consumer. The consumer confused about difference between Surface Pro vs Surface RT to avoid confusion Microsoft has launched Surface 2, they are naming “2” instead of “RT”.

The Surface 2 is versatile, thinner tablet PC powered by Intel Processor and Windows OS 8.1 featuring HD, 512 GB flash storage, 200GB at SkyDrive (similar to Google Drive’s 10oGB offer on its devices), USB 3.0, long battery life, access all Windows Apps and the Pro Pen with palm-blocking technology.

The Surface 2 is limited version tablet PC, Microsoft changed the  name but has not done any improvement in software but they are good at hardware thing. They launched many accessories and some accessories will launch in January 2014.

It is good that Microsoft found confusion of naming of Surface RT and they admit it and changed name to Surface 2. The consumer had hope to have changes in Tablet PC and according to data “RT” naming does not lower their sales.
