Unmanned SpaceX flight launched; booster lands badly

The unmanned flight of SpaceX rocket enjoyed a perfect launch, but he ending was not what was expected or wished for! The unmanned SpaceX flight was launched on Saturday with the International Space Station as its destination. The journey was smooth, but the SpaceX rocket could not make its way back to the starting point. The rocket was supposed to land itself back on the platform in the ocean, but failed to do so and suffered a hard landing. The founder and chief executive, Elon Musk seemed undeterred by the failure.Unmanned SpaceX flight launched; booster lands badly

According to the reports, the SpaceX rocket could not operate its steerable fins for landing as the hydraulic fluid ran out. The deficiency has already been managed for the next flight as the rocket will have 50 percent more fluid when a SpaceX rocket has its next flight. The possibility of using a rocket more than once has been in the scenario for long. NASA initially tried to recover and reuse parts from rockets, so that they can be used the later. The act in turn proved to be more expensive.

Space Exploration Technologies on the other hand is looking forward to make a rocket, which can be reused again and again. In case a rocket can be made to return to its point of launch and touch down the spot with its landing legs, a huge percentage of money can be saved. Today’s test flight, is the closest that Space Exploration Technologies have come to achieve their goal.

The SpaceX rocket was launched from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. The discarded first stage booster returned back to its target, but unfortunately broke into pieces. It will be interesting to see what lies ahead for the SpaceX rockets when it undergoes more flights in the near future.
