After Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk all set to venture in satellites

After creating landmarks in Automobile industry and Rocket Industry, Elon Musk has shifted his view to the satellites. With the kind of persona Elon Musk holds, it is quite an unexpected event when some or the other news about him does not flash up. According to the recent reports, Elon Musk has now decided to shift his area of interest. The entrepreneur is looking forward to revolutionize the world of internet with smaller and less expensive satellites, which can be used to deliver Internet across the globe. Although, Elon Musk has not made any official comments in this regard, but the people around him believe so.Image: Musk, CEO of Tesla Motors and SpaceX, attends the Reuters Global Technology Summit in San Francisco

The news has been fueled by the fact that Elon Musk is currently working with Mr. Greg Wyler, who is in turn a veteran in the field of satellites. Mr. Wyler is the owner of WorldVu Satellites Ltd. and also an ex-Google executive. The reports state that Mr. Musk and Mr. Wyler are gearing up to launch, approximately 700 small satellites weighing less that 250 pounds for the development and spread of the Internet across the world.

The analysis of the proposed acts, shows that the manufacturing and launch of the proposed 700 small satellites will involve a huge amount of expertise and skills as well as a huge amount of money. The number coming up at this point is approximately $1 billion that might just be needed for the project. On the other hand, SpaceX is very much likely to be working on the satellites, but no official agreements have been signed yet.

The word is that Mr. Wyler had brought up the idea to Google Inc. about a year ago, before leaving the company. Interestingly, Google has declined to make any official comment in this regard. It will be interesting to see how Mr. Musk approaches this idea and what comes out of it?
