The year 2014 has been such that the lovers of smart devices will surely find themselves in a fix. With most of the smart phone makers launching or announcing their flagship devices, it has become increasingly difficult for individuals to decide which device to go for, which device is currently the best in the market? The situation is somewhat similar in case of Google Nexus 6 by Motorola and Sony Xperia Z3.
It is undoubted that both the devices are the best ones in their class, but still it becomes important to a certain extent to compare the devices and try to decide which one is better. Let’s make a quick comparison between Motorola-made Google Nexus 6 and Sony Xperia Z3, in terms of price, specifications and other features.
Google Nexus 6 and Sony Xperia Z3: main specifications compared
Sony has always held a position of high esteem when it comes to the design that comes with their products. Thus, the comparison of Nexus 6 and Sony Xperia Z3 ends up in quite a one sided affair. Nexus 6 follows a similar outlook like LG Nexus 5 and thus may not appeal a great deal to a few. On the other hand, with Xperia Z3, the equation is slightly bent. Z3 has similar looks, but is slimmer and lighter compared to it predecessor. In addition, Xperia Z3 has a dust and waterproof design, which is an added bonus for its users.
If Xperia Z3 beats Motorola Nexus 6 with build and design, Nexus 6 does the same to Z3 with its processor. Nexus 6 and Sony Xperia Z3, both come with processors belonging to the Snapdragon family. The only and major difference is that Nexus 6 has a 2.7 GHz Adreno 440 Snapdragon 805 processor compared to Z3’s 2.5 GHz Adreno 330 Snapdragon 801 processor. Both Nexus 6 and Sony Xperia Z3 bring with them a 3GB RAM.
IF we genuinely compare the screen of both Nexus 6 and Sony Xperia Z3, for me, Nexus 6 will win it easily. Nexus 6 comes with a 6 inch screen compared to the 5.2 inch screen of Xperia Z3. Along with that, Nexus 6 boasts of Quad HD 2560×1440 resolution with 493 ppi compared to 1920×1080 resolution with 424 ppi for Xperia Z3. The better device is clear for certain.
Nowadays, smartphones have seriously endangered the digital cameras. When you have a smartphone with a quality camera, general people will not find any reasons to buy a separate digital camera just for pictures. When Nexus 6 and Sony Xperai Z3 face off each other in this section, the latest high end smartphone from Sony will surely outclass all! Xperia Z3 comes with a 20.7 MP primary camera with LED Flash and a 2.2 MP secondary camera. On the other hand, Nexus 6 lags behind quite a bit with 13 MP Primary camera with dual LED flash and a 2 MP secondary camera.
As always, Google tries to keep the price tag of its Nexus series of smartphones pocket-friendly. But, compared to its predecessor, LG-made Nexus 5 which was priced at $399 for 32GB, Google has almost doubled the price tag of its latest addition to the Nexus series. 32GB model of Nexus 6 is available for $649, while the 64GB variant sells at $699. LG Nexus 5 was launched with the price tag of $349 (16GB) and $399 (32GB). However, unlocked Sony Xperia Z3 is not available for $699 (as low as $630 in many third-party online stores).
Thus, it is quite clear that both the devices are very good in their places and negate one’s advantage over the other. The decision to choose the better smart device at this stage comes down to the minute comparisons. Sony Xperia Z3 comes with a 16/32 GB variant with additional MicroSD card slot whereas Nexus 6 comes with 32/64 GB variant with no external MicroSD support. If I were a buyer, I would go for Sony Xperia Z3 because of two particular reasons. Firstly, the dust and waterproof feature Z3 models makes it one of the safer smartphones to use. Secondly, as it happens Sony will surely roll out Android L for Z3. Thus, I will not have to worry about the upgrade. It is easy to say, but when it comes to the market, both Nexus 6 and Sony Xpera Z3 are healthy competitors.
