Apple denied layoff in Beats, only fired 5 staffs over poor performance

Update: Apple denies the layoff rumors and it has been reported that only 5 Beats employees have been sent to homes for not performing better. Apple spokesman said that the company is looking for a suitable full time job for all Beats employees.

Tom Neumayr, Apple spokesman said in a statement:

“We’re excited to have the Beats team join Apple, and we have extended job offers to every Beats employee. Because of some overlap in our operations, some offers are for a limited period and we’ll work hard during this time to find as many of these Beats employees as we can another permanent job within Apple.”

After completion of a $3 billion worth Apple-Beats deal, Apple is set to layoff 200 Beats employees out of its current 700 employees.

Apple acquisition of Beats would be completed in the financial quarter, while the California-based company’s, Cupertino and Santa Monica are in the process of transferring select employees and technology from Beats. The 39 percent job cut is Apple’s move to cut out overlapping employees in human resources, finance and other departments. A spokesperson for Apple mentioned that the company is excited as the Beats team joins Apple and has extended offers to each Beats employee.

Iovine and Dr.Dre founders of Beats signed employment contracts for joining Apple post acquisition. Trent Rezor, Chief Creative Officer and Beats Music CEO, Ian Rogers have confirmed that they will join Apple. Both the companies announced their merger early this year as Apple seeks to integrate the Beats technology to improve its music services. Apple executives notified Beats employees regarding the transition and those who would be employed at Apple. Most employees hired at Apple from Beats are from creative and development sections. They would work mainly in Apple’s Cupertino offices and some engineers will be employed in Santa Monica offices.

Apple’s iTunes Radio, iTunes Store and iTunes Match services faces competition from music services like Spotify and Rdio and the Beats technology is likely to improve its popularity.

Apple has already officially welcomed Beats with an excitement. Interestingly, the official website of Apple does contain a very special message to its new member and it does show the exuberance that the iPhone makers are going through after the deal is finally complete. The deal between Apple and Beats has seen a lot of ups and downs from both the sides but has still maintained its position.
