The recently added batch includes more than 100 emoticons that better reflect gender and skin tone diversity. Whether you’re using it on your Android or iOS devices or on a computer, you’ll get the same quality. Emojis are smileys that exist in different genres, facial expressions, objects, animals and even weather. They were developed in Japan in the late ‘90s to work on mobile phones but have since become popular worldwide. Tony Leach, Facebook Messenger product manager, is quite excited about the new pictographs. "Emojis are one of the most important ways we communicate emotion to each other," says Leach. Leach also states that one out of ten messages on Facebook Messenger include emojis. With the new diverse emojis, users can now pick the skin color they want, and it will be their default. Android and iOS users were already able to do this. However, Leach states that it will be a first for all Web, iOS and Android customers to have the possibility to set the color of the skin tone on that many emojis. Six skin tones are available. The new female emojis are a jogger, pedestrian, police officer, surfer, and swimmer. Facebook messenger opens its emoji treasure chest next week, so be ready to try them all. With the help of a brand new emoji picker, users can find them more easily. You just have to tap the emoji icon placed at the left of Messenger composer. Messenger’s popularity is on a rise, hitting about 900,000 users in April this year. With its continuing gained success, it’s no wonder new exciting things are in store to keep the users happy. According to Emogi, an emotional marketing service, nine out of ten online people use emojis. Most users are women, making up 78 percent of the overall emoji consumers. Because of this high demand, Unicode Consortium has begun to release more colorful character. By default, these pictographs were white and male.
