The Check-ins is an old story on Foursquare now. Foursquare has changed its logo and removes the Check-in feature from its app. The company is putting an end to their era. From Thursday on, the Check-ins would be removed from the main app of Foursquare and it would migrate to Swarm. The company had already announced a several months ago that it was supposedly spitting its services into two.
The work of both Foursquare and Swarm has been divided. Where Foursquare will enable the people to discover places to go, Swarm will help the user to check-in at places and keeping the friends updated about the same. If you have any past check-ins on Foursquare, they will automatically move over to Swarm.
Foursquare is about to turn more personalized soon. The company’s blog post states:
“In a couple weeks, we’re rolling out a brand new version of Foursquare that’s all about you, tell us what you like, and we’ll be on the lookout for great places that match your tastes, wherever you are.”
In order to get the feel of the transition phase, Foursquare has also launched a new logo that looks more like a cross in between a map pin and sporting an emblem belonging to a superhero. The old check-in mark has also been replaced with the new logo.
The personalized recommendations will be offered on the new Fousquare app. The company has stated “No two people view the world exactly the same, so no two people will have the same experience with the app, Once you teach Foursquare a couple things about you – add tastes, follow experts, or even just walk around for a few days – the app will be 100 percent yours.”
Both the apps, Foursquare and Swarm will work perfectly well together in case you want to use them collaterally. In such a case, you will be allowed to check in through the main Foursquare app. However, you will need to have Swarm already installed on your device to use this service.
The company has stated that as many as three quarters of its users have already installed Swarm on their devices. This app had been launched in the month of May for Android and the iOS devices. The new logo and the new approach of Foursquare are supposed to bring more bliss to the company.
