Samsung rolls out Android 4.4.4 KitKat update to Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 Duos smartphones and India will be the first market to get the update.
Users of the Galaxy Grand 2 Duos will be able to install the update through the Samsung Kies app or can be installed via OTA (over-the-air). The update which is 361MB in size can also be manually installed by going to the Software update in settings. An XDA forum member revealed that his device had already received the update and posted screenshots.
Last month, a leaked update schedule from Samsung India revealed the company is set to roll out the Android KitKat to Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 Duos, Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, Galaxy Mega 5.8, Galaxy Mega 6.3 and Galaxy Note 3 Neo by the end of July. The update will include new emojis, new launcher settings, album art on lock-screen and more. Both the single and dual-sim smartphones will get the update.
The Galaxy Grand 2 Duos is powered by a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor with 1.5GB RAM. The device features a 5.2-inch HD TFT display with a 8MP primary camera and 1.9MP secondary camera. Internal memory of 8GB can be expanded upto 64GB via MicroSD card. The 3G smartphone phone weighs 163 grams and has 2600mAh battery.
However it s not yet known when users in other countries will be receiving the Android KitKat. The mid-range smartphone is popular in the Indian market and Samsung will roll out the update in phases to various regions of the country.[ Source ]
