The struggle between Apple and Google continues as the German Automobile maker, Audi has announced that it will integrate some of its models with Apple’s CarPlay system. According to the reports that have come in the recent times, Audi is looking forward to introduce some of the upcoming models with the Apple Product.
Till date, Audi has been known to support and was quite open in comments for Google’s Android Auto. According to many, this will be taken as a low to Google’s aspirations with Android Auto.
Prof. Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, Board Member for Technical Development at AUDI AG said in a statement:
“Our customers want to be ‘always on’ and use the services they know from their smartphones in cars as well. In this regard, we are working closely with leading companies like Google and Apple. In the future, customers will be able to use the functions available to them on their smartphones via the operating systems in their cars as well.”
It was till 27th of June that the world was completely unaware of the talks that were going on between Apple and the German Carmaker. In a statement Prof. Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg said that the company always looks forward to the interests of the customers. Thus in this regard, Audi has been in talks with companies like Apple and Google to make cars smarter. He also added he expects that in future the customers will be able do everything that a Smartphone does using the systems in their cars as well.
Standing well aware of the fact that Apple and Google share a tough competition on and off the technical field; the decision by Audi to use both Android and iOS will make things more interesting. Apple had announced CarPlay back in the World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) last year.
With the announcement, Apple had also released a list of carmakers who were interested in working with them. Compared to Apple’s CarPlay, Android Auto was officially announced just a few weeks earlier in the Google I/O conference. With Audi looking forward to launch Apple’s CarPlay as soon as 2015, the heat may just rise again.
