SAN FRANSISCO – Facebook CEO and Founder of the World’s largest social network – Marc Zuckerberg announced on late Tuesday in his FB profile that his team is partnering with World’s greatest tech companies for providing the free internet access to unconnected people of the World, which means internet to be accessed anywhere, anyone on the earth.
The partners of this initiative internet.org – as of now – are Facebook, Mediatek, Opera software, Ericsson, Samsung, Nokia and Qualcomm. The group is focusing on adding more partners to the organization to provide affordable (mostly free) internet access to anyone on the earth. The two third of the population on earth is still doesn’t has access to the internet. Only about 2.7 billion people has the access to internet!
Marc Zuckerberg said in his FB page timeline:
“Everything Facebook has done has been about giving all people around the world the power to connect,there are huge barriers in developing countries to connecting and joining the knowledge economy. Internet.org brings together a global partnership that will work to overcome these challenges, including making internet access available to those who cannot currently afford it.”
Together, these companies will bring some plans within the companies and outside the partnered companies, which ultimately, directly or indirectly help providing more easy ways to access internet on the Earth.
