It’s a rare good news for LG competing against its rival Samsung over smartphones, as the company has managed to outsell its newly launched LG G3 flagship devices against Samsung’s Galaxy S5 in South Korea and that too in 3 to 1 ratio. Pretty impressive right? Red on to know more.
If we look at the past sales numbers of both the South Korean electronic companies, Samsung devices were always outsold comfortably against LG’s flagships. As of now, LG G3 handsets managed to score a victory over Galaxy S5 in its domestic market. And that doesn’t mean that the same success will follow LG in its conquer of worldwide market.
The 3 to 1 ratio victory of LG had been possible by selling 25,000 to 30,000 LG G3 handsets each day in few days of launch, where Samsung had sold only 7,000 to 8,000 units during the same period of its launch.
This news isn’t very surprising because Samsung was in trouble launching the latest Galaxy S5 flagship in South Korea because of the South Korean regulators’ catching of the carriers that was violating laws that force the maximum subsidy for a phone. The resulting 45 day ban of acquiring new customers was scheduled to start on April 5th, while the launch of Samsung Galaxy S5 was scheduled on April 11. By learning about the new ruling, both the carriers as well as smartphone-maker decided to launch the device earlier in March 2014, which made Samsung to suffer with low sales due to the lack of promotional campaigns.
Meanwhile, LG has undertaken some impressive steps to keep the marketing momentum of the new flagship smartphone. May be, those leaked images, specifications and videos were the deliberate attempt of the company to keep the momentum of the free marketing. Finally, the launch of mini teaser videos with impressive hardware features made rest of its works in easier manner.
To speak of the exact specifications, LG G3 with plastic body that looks like a metal, has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor chipset with 3 GB LPDDR3 RAM to its support. LG G3 device sports a 5.5 inches IPS QHD display with the lenses ranging up to 13MP. Other key specifications are, 32 GB of internal storage space, 2.1MP front camera with enhanced selfie mode, micro SD slot, 146.3 x 74.6 x 8.9 mm dimension, Adreno 330 GPU, 3,000mAh removable battery and unsurprisingly, Android 4.4 KitKat.
We don’t expect the same market performance of the LG smartphone in global markets, but as per the hardware specs sheet as well as the recent success of the company, we can see the magic. By the way, which one you want to go for, if you were to choose between these two?
