Sprint has announced an exclusive version the HTC One (M8) Harman Kardon edition smartphone featuring HD Audio sound, where the device will take advantage of its front-facing stereo speakers as well as custom amplifiers built-into the handset to cotrol speakers and headphones.
Sprint’s HTC One HK edition smartphone also uses Harman Kardon’s Clari-Fi app, which hasn’t been used on any other smartphones yet, is set to help users get richer, deeper and clearer sound output for compressed music that comes from online services such as Pandora, Spotify and via online MP3 downloads.
Sprint says the lossless Hig-Definition Audio music reproduction feature of HTC One (M8) Harman Kardon edition smartphone that operates over a 24 bit and 192 KHz DAC will deliver about 6 times as many bits of information over a normal disc and 60 times over the bits of an MP3 or high-res music streaming source.
This step taken by Sprint and HTC, jointly, might help the companies to gain some market share, as there are huge number of music lovers who will love to hear high-end audio within a smartphone, where the other companies such as Samsung, Nokia and LG are busy in making smartphones with high-end cameras.
Regarding the specifications, Sprint’s exclusive edition of HTC One (M8) boasts a 5-inch Full HD 1080p display, a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor with Adreno 330 GPU, 2GB of RAM, Dual 4MP (Ultrapixel technology) rear camera with dual-LED flash, 5-megapixel front camera, non-removable 2,600mAh battery, 32GB internal memory options with expandable microSD card slot for up to 128GB storage space (that makes the total of 160GB storage space) and all major features.
HTC One (M8) Harman Kardon edition will be available on Sprint US for $230 with a two-year contract and you could have one for “zero” down payment and monthly installments of $28.34 for 24 months under carrier’s Easy Pay plan, that makes the total cost of the device to around $680. Sprint also bundles a set of Harman Kardon AE-S headphones worth $149, for free.
