HTC is doing pretty much everything right in terms of putting out a high quality mobile phone. Now they simply need some assist in spreading the word and due to that, they’ve hired Paul Golden – the former head of marketing for Samsung’s mobile division – will operate as a counselor to HTC Chairwoman Cher Wang based on sources from Bloomberg.
Hiring Golden by HTC comes after three consecutive quarters of operating losses and continued declines in sales and market share of the company based in Taiwan.
Paul Golden worked with Samsung from February 2008 through January 2012, a time when the South Korean company shot to worldwide fame in the smartphone market.
According to the LinkedIn profile of Paul Golden, he was the one who “created and launched successful Galaxy brand” for devices that have given so much joy to the South Korean firm.
The firm mentioned in an e-mailed statement,
“HTC continues to invest in talent and recruitment as part of our broader human resources strategy to ensure the continued strength of our company’s organizational structure”.
The next-gen HTC One known by the codename M8 has been announced in last month, where they already hired actors Gary Oldman and Robert Downey Jr. to promote the product and improve sales through better marketing via TV commercials.
For HTC, even a part of that market-share gain would be considered a great success. The organization’s global smartphone popularity and revenues has slipped to less than 2%, as reported by Barclays analyst Dale Gai.
The marketing has been an important issue for HTC in the Android Smartphone market. That is the reason could be the hiring of Golden is a step towards achieving this goal.[ Source ]
