Samsung has unveiled the price of its upcoming Gear 2 and Gear Fit smartwatches in Taiwan, where the Samsung Gear 2 is priced at NTD 8,999 (or $295), while the latter one will be available for NTD 5,999 (approximately $200) in the country.
The news came from the popular Taiwanese tech blog ePrice (check the source link), where it said that Samsung will also release low-end Gear 2 Neo smartwatch with the price tag of around $200. This doesn’t mean that Samsung would add the same price tag across the globe, but by this Taiwanese price tag, we can estimate the approximate price variances in other countries.
Following the failure of its first version of smartwatch Galaxy Gear, Samsung promised to launch the new smartwatches with much lower price tag, because the Galaxy Gear had the high price tag of $300. Price of the device was one of the factor for its failure. Meanwhile, the Taiwanese price range shows that the price hasn’t been significantly lowered.
With built-in 1.63-inch Super AMOLED display screen, Samsung Gear 2 wearable will be running on Tizen OS in place of Android OS of previous model. It would be having the same 2MP camera, but with additional 4GB of internal storage space.
