Facebook-owned photo sharing social network Instagram has updated its Android app and claims that the new application is faster and more responsive than before.
Instagram has announced in its official blog post that the latest 5.1 version of the app for Android brings a refreshed User Interface, where the user profile screen will load twice faster than the older version of the application. The company has also claimed that the app has been cut to half of its size and it will suit every handsets with different shapes and screen sizes.
Instagram’s Android application debuted in Google Play Store in April 2012 and the photo-sharing social network reached the milestone of 100 million monthly active users in February, last year. Facebook acquired the Instagram for $1 billion in April 2012, which was the largest acquisition ever done by Facebook at the time, but last month’s purchase of WhatsApp is much bigger with its $19 billion offer.
