Herewith this news, we end all the rumors and speculations of Microsoft’s CEO hunt and our last rumor of an India-American as the next CEO becomes the ultimate truth. We also expected that Bill Gates will be stepping down from the Chairman position and the company announced that he will be taking a role of “Technology Adviser” after his Chairman role expires.

Born in Hyderabad, India, Satya Nadella received degrees in electrical engineering and computer science before joining MBA program at University of Chicago. He was the president of the company’s Server and Tools business and prior to that he was the senior VP of R&D for online services division and before this, he was the VP of Microsoft Business Division. Before joining Microsoft, he also worked in a group of technology staffs in Sun Microsystems.

Today, the last CEO Steve Ballmer sent an email to Microsoft employees where he praised the new CEO and said,

“Satya is a proven leader. He has a remarkable ability to see what’s going on in the market, to sense opportunity, and to really understand how we come together at Microsoft to execute against those opportunities in a collaborative way.”

While Satya Nadella’s email reads,

“Every one of us needs to do our best work, lead and help drive cultural change. We sometimes underestimate what we each can do to make things happen and overestimate what others need to do to move us forward. We must change this.”

There were several rumors surfaced in past five months regarding the next Microsoft CEO candidate, that includes Ford CEO Alan Mulally, but later he revealed that he won’t be leaving Ford. Later, the rumors suggested that the company’s COO Kevin Turner could be the next CEO. And in last December, when the reports came out regarding Microsoft’s consideration of Qualcomm’s COO Steve Mollenkopf to replace Ballmer, but very next day, Qualcomm announced Mollenkopf as the company’s CEO to avoid loosing him to Microsoft. Recently, it was also rumored that Google’s senior vice president Sundar Pichai is also on the race to Microsoft CEO.

Finally the company has found a leader, now it’s the time to achieve success in the changing market from PC to mobile. What is your opinion?
