The rumors of Apple iWatch surfaced long ago, but still the company hasn’t revealed it smartwatch yet. Now, we have received a strong information, where the South Korea-based LG Display has reportedly secured an exclusive contract with Apple to mass produce the 1.52-inch flexible OLED displays for alleged iWatch.
The alleged mass production (at least 2 million) of the tiny display is said to begin in May 2014. Things to note here is the report also suggested that the Cupertino-based tech giant is working on iWatch for kids with these flexible plastic OLED display. The display technology will be the same as what the LG G Flex display consist of.
Previously, some rumors regarding the Apple iWatch were suggesting that the company could use the AMOLED display from Samsung and LG. Some rumors claimed of a 1.2-inch display and few claimed a 2-inch display, but the latest one sit in the middle of those two dimensions. If Apple uses the P-OLED display tech on its iWatch, then it could bring the curved-edge smartwatch along with the comfort to stick to the wrist.
According to the AppleInsider, Apple already patented its flexible iWatch with touchscreen display as well as the “slap bracelet” mechanism to conform the users’ wrist.
