In order to incorporate more and more high quality local business reviews and ratings on Google+, the company has launched a new program and named it as the Google City Experts. Limited to selected cities in the countries of Australia, United States of America, United Kingdom and Japan, the program promises to reward users who have submitted more than fifty reviews till date as well as those who submit at least five reviews each month.
The perks given to the reward worthy reviewers include exclusive access to local events, free Google branded items along with special online recognition. Along with these, the participants will also be sent monthly newsletters, comprising of various deals and offers, news about upcoming local events and contests where they can participate.
The qualifying Google City Experts will also become members of an exclusive Google+ community where they will be able to interact with other experts and discuss tips and tricks for using the Google Local and the Google Maps.
The prerequisite of the initial fifty reviews is that not only spammers but also people looking out for the free stuff and business owners themselves cannot post biased, casual and advertising-oriented reviews.
The program is currently offered in San Francisco, Raleigh-Durham, Portland, Phoenix, New York, Chicago and Austin in USA; Manchester, London, Edinburg and Bristol in UK; Sydney in Australia and Osaka and Tokyo in Japan. The names of these selected cities were announced last week. Naturally, the company seeks to expand the program to other countries and cities of the world as well.
