Children under the age of 13 can have access to Facebook Messenger for children to chat with whomever their parents approve. Facebook is releasing its new version of Messenger especially designed for kids. Messenger Kids is a safe way of communication for preteens. They can chat with their parents or friends, creating an account and adding new contacts.
This app is not as easy as it may seem. For instance, if a child wants to chat with a friend from school, one of their parents needs to be Facebook friends with one of the other child’s parents. And so, they can agree to a connection request. The main purpose of the new Facebook Messenger for children is not to tie the messaging app to a phone number. In this way, it will prevent the child from getting messages from people they do not know.
Preteens will enjoy Facebook Messenger for children
However, there is another major benefit to get preteens onto Messenger. Facebook will have the chance to reach the youngest generation of users before any other competitor does. Unfortunately, Facebook continues to lose some of its teenager users to apps like Instagram and Snapchat. That is why Facebook came up with the idea of launching Messenger Kids.
By using this new Facebook app, a ten-year-old can develop their network of contacts with Messenger Kids and then upgrade to regular Messenger and Facebook when they grow up. In this way, they will be able to keep in touch with old friends from school even when they will be in their twenties.
Besides needing parents approval to make friends, they will not be allowed to delete any messages. Furthermore, parents will be notified whenever their kids report a message.
The new Facebook Messenger for children is meant to offer preteens a safe way to chat with their friends and parents. There are some rules which need to be respected when developing a Messenger Kids account. However, this new app will bring joy to preteens in the Internet era.
