Recently, video game studio Bethesda officially announced that it is going to introduce very soon a Survival Mode for the very-popular RPG The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim. It’s going to be available for Skyrim Creation Club and those who are interested can enter the Steam Beta immediately. Bethesda hasn’t announced when this mode it’s going to go live, but probably it’s going to happen soon. The way this mode works it’s a truly interesting one, especially if you like those types of challenges or have a soft spot for punishment.
The world of the game will be the same, but the Survival Mode will add things like fatigue and hunger to make things more difficult. There will also be some survival systems that will work depending on the weather. Moreover, fast travel will remain just a sweet dream because the Survival Mode will take it out of the game.
Survival Mode for Skyrim
However, if you are interested to try it, very well. Bethesda said that the mode will be free for everyone to test for only one week on each platform. After that, you will have to pay a yet unspecified price to continue to enjoy it, especially if you will like it.
It’s interesting that currently, there are many similar modes developed by the Skyrim community which are completely free and work amazingly well. However, if you want to make it official, and are willing to pay, this Survival Mode is probably a good idea from Bethesda. After all, it’s about keeping the game fresh using various tricks. The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim has begun to age and no matter how good the game was, people are beginning to leave it behind and focus on newer thing. So, until a new installment comes out, it’s crucial for Bethesda to keep the remaining players interested.
Keeping players interested
The map for this mode will have different climate areas. In order to survive in there, you will need a certain level of preparation and skill. So, if you feel like taking a short cut through a river, you might very well die. Why? The water might be a bit too cold for your body. So, things will become quite complicated. Also, your health is not going to regenerate. Moreover, you will need to sleep in an actual bed to level up.
