About a year ago, billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk announced everyone about his ambitious and elaborate plan to colonize Mars in the near future. This colony was supposed to be made out of one million people. This way, we could slowly re-locate on the Red Planet in case Earth will not host us anymore. Now, it seems like he decided to make some minor changes to his elaborate a bit obsessive plan.
It all began last year, at the International Astronautical Congress in Guadalajara, Mexico. There, the SpaceX founder announced that his plan involved large spacecraft and rockets which were supposed to transport people to the Red Planet. So, it wasn’t about re-locating the entire colony there, but rather about moving small groups of people, one by one. However, it appears like Musk has been working on his scheme this summer said that he has made some changes.

More recently, during an interview, Elon Musk said that after further investigation into the matter of the human-transporting rockets, he altered the plan a bit. According to the billionaire, he decided that it would be better to make those rockets and spaceship smaller in size. This way, they will transport fewer people, which will decrease the costs. Moreover, they may use those smaller rockets for various missions for Earth’s and Mars’ orbits.
He explained that his company might be able to pay for the expensive spacecraft by also using it for mission around our planet. This is the reason why he thought of making the architecture of the rockets the way he did. A bit later, on Twitter, the Tesla CEO also revealed that by making them smaller they could fit perfectly inside his SpaceX factories.

An ambitious and possibly real plan
According to reports, Elon Musk is planning to present his new idea on September 29. It will happen at this year’s Astronautical Congress in Adelaide, Australia. The website of the conference says that Musk will present one of the most ambitious and extraordinary space slideshows in history. Those interested will be able to watch the event as it will be live-stream all over the world. In the meantime, the world will be eagerly awaiting Musk’s wild and ambitious plan.
