During Gamescom, which takes place in Cologne, Germany, Ubisoft has finally unveiled a lot more details about the complex story of Assassin’s Creed: Origins. The story revolves around the power struggle between the most important leaders of ancient Egypt. It’s actually understandable that the developers managed to create a more complex and intricate story this time. They took one year off and had enough time to work on possibly the best game of the franchise. This installment will present players the origins of the brotherhood as it came to be during the time of Julius Caesar, Ptolemy and Cleopatra.
Assassin’s Creed: Origins
According to what Ashraf Ismail, the game director, has previously said, this is a period of time when great conflicts are taking place. The child king Ptolemy wants to gain all the power in Egypt and because of this, he is conspiring against his own sister, Cleopatra. In her turn, she seeks help from Caesar and the Roman Empire. Ismail also revealed that because of those conflicts, the Pharaohs line is about to end. This is the moment when a certain brotherhood we all know is being formed with the purpose of bringing back peace and keeping the powers in balance.
Players will take on the role of Bayek, the last of the Medjay order of ancient warriors. His wife, Aya, is also helping him in his quests and when the game begins, they will be fighting to reveal a plot against Cleopatra which some priests are creating. The story of the game takes place in Memphis, the once glorious capital of ancient Egypt. From the few missions that were presented during the event, fans were able to notice a rather different style than that of the previous games. This time, Origins is more RPG-oriented. Also, the combat has changed a bit.
Details about the story
One of the first missions that Bayek has to complete has to do with the death of a sacred bull. He is a very capable individual, who has some very advanced powers of investigation. Finally, both Bayek and Aya inform Cleopatra about a possible plot against her. According to Ismail, the parts where the player meets Cleopatra feel like they are part of history. This is one of the things Ubisoft wanted to accomplish with this game. To make the players feel like they are changing history.
