Someone has bought a Tesla Model S electric car using Bitcoin at Lamborghini Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, CA.
Electronic currency (also called as cryptocurrency), Bitcoin, has been used to buy an electric car – a popular Tesla Model S, the company revealed this in its official blog.
The company also posted that it will accept the virtual currency, Bitcoin as one of the payment method in transaction for car sales. It said,
“Lamborghini Newport Beach is proud to announce that we are fully capable of accepting Bitcoin as legal tender for vehicles. We are excited to be opening the door to this new currency.”
This is not a surprise, as recently Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic also announced to accept payment from customers in Bitcoins. Even many online stores are now accepting Bitcoins as one of their payment methods.
Bitcoin was valued around $0.30 in 2011, which is now at approximately $1200 in exchange for US Dollars following US Senate committee hearing deemed it a legitimate financial service. However, China has already restricted its banks to not to involve in Bitcoins.
