The PlayStation Experience event has been around since 2014. It usually displays some smaller, more unknown games which will come out in the following year. A smaller scale E3, let’s call it. Except that this year’s event displayed some very famous videogames, along with trailers and demos. Sony showcased some of its best upcoming games and among those there were some fan favorites which everyone was waiting for.
The Last of Us Part II
One of these fan favorites was “The Last of Us Part II”. When Shawn Laden, chairman of Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios walked on stage and presented the game, the eyes of many filled with tears of joy. “The Last of Us” even became a trending topic on Twitter shortly after the trailer’s release. Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker will still voice Ellie and Joel, but the game is not supposed to come out before 2018. It is reportedly still early in development so it will take a while. According to the game’s creative director, the event in Part II will take place five years after the first game. Ellie is now a young woman (the rumors were true it seems) and the playable character of the game. So, instead of controlling Joel, the player will now be able to take control of Ellie.
Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
The PlayStation Experience event was ended by Naughty Dog and their trailer of “Uncharted: The Lost Legacy”. The game is a standalone set after the events of “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End”. It will feature popular female characters Chloe Frazer (from Uncharted 2 and 3) and Nadine Ross (from Uncharted 4). It is still unknown what the story will be about or why is the game titled “The Lost Legacy”. The only thing we know so far is that the player will take control of Chloe Frazer voiced by Claudia Black. The popular British brunette will most likely have an agenda of her own and some trouble up ahead. She will team up with Nadine in her journey.
A gameplay footage from “Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy”, which is a “Crash Bandicoot” remake was revealed. We do not know many details about the game, apart from its colorful, visually striking graphics and very familiar gameplay. The game will come out next year.
The reveal of “Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite” should have been one of the biggest moments of the night. Unfortunately, it was leaked before the event and ruined the surprise. The trailer showed Ryu from “Street Fighter” along with X from “Mega Man X” which were going to fight Iron Man and Captain Marvel.
All in all, enthusiasts are saying that this year’s PlayStation Experience was the best one so far. Many reveals, news and trailers which everyone was waiting for. Of course there were some pretty important games which were missing from the event, for example the new “God of War” or the remake for “Final Fantasy VII”. However, it is entirely possible that Sony might reveal those at E3 next year.
