“Driven by the success of Z1 and Z3, and taking forward the smart, fun and simple attributes of Tizen platform, Samsung Z2 has been customised to offer unique value to the Indian consumers,” says Samsung in a press release.

The new smartphone is called Samsung Z2, and comes with complimentary access to Jio applications (My Jio, Jio Beats, Jio on Demand) and an invitation to Jio Previo Offer to take advantage of free voice and data services (during the trial period).

The Z2 is no powerhouse, being featured with a 1.5GHz Quad-core processor, 8GB internal memory, and 1GB of RAM. However, the device has dual SIM support and a user-friendly interface that offers smooth performance. Samsung says that its 1500mAh battery provides long-lasting juice thanks to the Ultra Power Saving mode that will maintain the device operational at all battery levels.

Speaking of Jio, the partnership with the mobile telephony and broadband services provider in India offers users a broad range of free entertainment for streaming. Jio Beats has millions of high-definition songs while Jio on Demand, the video streaming app, enables access to the latest video content across countless genres and languages.

Samsung is launching its first 4G Tizen smartphone with a modest 5MP rear camera and a VGA front camera. The 4-inch WVGA screen should allow players to enjoy games and multimedia contest at a good resolution.

The phone’s Saving mode can save up to 40 percent mobile data by closing the unneeded applications running in the background. This way, it can ensure a cost-effective 4G experience. The device also got a built-in app that helps consumers manage transactions as well as make mini bank statements. Money transfer is supported with the standard IMPS.

Samsung Z2 is targeted at INR 4,590 (about $68) and will begin selling in India starting August 29. The new smartphone comes in three colors – Black, Gold, and Wine Red.
