Microsoft provides a professional degree program for young professionals that brings new opportunities for data scientists. The program was announced Wednesday, July 13, at the Worldwide Partner Conference. The first Microsoft Professional Degree Program is in data science, an ever growing field of work.
The MDP’s courseware will be available on edX.org. The platform was founded in 2012 by Harvard University and MIT. It offers high-quality study materials from the most renowned universities and learning institutions across the globe. Over 90 international partners are enrolled on the platform, gaining students all around the world.
Because of the gap that exists in the field of data science, Microsoft has taken upon itself to design a curriculum that addresses vital skills and working experience that are mandatory for a successful career. In the last two months, over 800 specialists have participated in the evaluation and validation of the data science curriculum. The pilot curriculum is brought by experts in data science from Microsoft and many other companies and institutions. Learning partners such as Dimension Data Learning Solutions, NIIT Limited, and QA Limited have been evaluating the courseware since May this year.
Microsoft provides a professional degree program for young professionals and more. Not only do young individuals in their early career stages are being offered crucial information, but mid-career professionals that are eager to enhance their skills can take advantage of the resources provided by Microsoft.
The program is a nine classes course, at the end of which you have a final project. The MDP includes the following courses: “Data Science Orientation”, “Query Relational Data”, “Analyze and Visualize Data”, “Understand Statistics”, “Explore Data with Code”, “Understand Core Data Science Concepts”, “Understand Machine Learning”, “Use Code to Manipulate and Model Data”, “Develop Intelligent Solutions”.
Each course is free to audit, including labs. However, in order to obtain the Microsoft Professional Degree, interested individuals must purchase the Verified Certificate for each of the nine courses and a final project. The orientation course Verified Certificate is priced at $25, while the “Statistical Thinking for Data Science and Analytics” Verified Certificate will cost $99. Verified Certificates for the other remaining courses can be purchased for $49. The prices may change, and additional charges may also apply.
