Samsung Galaxy Note 7 will be officially unveiled on August 2, according to a statement made by the company on July 13. The Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event that will celebrate the new launching is set to take place in New York, at 11:00 A.M. International events are also planned in the afternoon in Rio de Janeiro and London.
The new, much-expected Galaxy Note 7 is rumored to have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 or the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset for the United States and Canada markets, while the models developed for the International market are said to be equipped with an Exynos 8893 CPU. The phone is also believed to have 4GB or 6GB of RAM, 64GB internal storage, and feature a big 5.7-inch or 5.8-inch Super AMOLED display with a 2560×1440 resolution. Camera-wise, it is said that the primary camera will provide 12-megapixel high-quality images while having a 5-megapixel rear camera.
Rumors aside, Samsung announced that Galaxy Note 7 comes with added functionality to the S Pen and the large screen. Company officials say that the Note 7 was “made for those who want to get the most from their phones – and their lives”. The smartphone will help professionals get more work done, as well as aiding people in their personal, day-to-day activities.
The Galaxy Note 7 unifies Samsung’s portfolio of Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge devices.
Samsung unveiled that the new Galaxy Note 7 will have an innovative feature – an iris scanner. This scanner is said to provide faster user authentication than the common fingerprint scanner. Here’s how the iris scanner works. The user has to place the device about 25 cm away from the face with the touchscreen facing towards the face. The device is equipped with two circles for iris recognition, so the user must position their eyes so that they are staring directly into the two scanners.
There’s no information regarding an extra use for the iris scanner such as the ability to provide third-party authentication just as Nexus’ Imprint system did.
