The new Snapdragon 821 will set new standards for mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets, VR head mounted displays, and more. Qualcomm already revealed that commercial devices featuring the chip would be launched “in the second half of 2016”. No specific dates have been named just yet.

Asus, however, seems to be the first to gets its hand on the powerful chip, announcing the first Snapdragon 821 smartphone while still keeping the release date a secret. The first mobile device to rock this 2.4GHz processor has an added 128GB of storage space, a 5.7-inch touchscreen, a fingerprint sensor while running on Android 6.0. And thanks to the vast number of pixels sported by the rear camera – 23 megapixels to be more exact – you can high-quality pictures without having to invest in a photography camera.

You have to hand it to Asus – the company makes no cutbacks when it comes to quality. This new addition to the Zenfone family makes it one of the major players in the state-of-the-art smartphone market. However, the rival company LeEco might soon announce a Snapdragon 821 smartphone of their own soon.

All three versions of the Zenfone 3 Deluxe enjoy the same features, except for RAM and storage space. The other two will run the Snapdragon 820, which is already one of the fastest chips out there. The two less powerful models will be released sooner, sometime next month, in Taiwan and Hong Kong. The Zenfone 3 Deluxe utilizing the new chip will be priced at about $780, and should arrive later in the year.

What do you think about the new Snapdragon 821 smartphone? Would you invest $780 in what would be one of the most powerful phones on the market?
