Similar to Sony, Microsoft also acknowledged about the defected disc drives of Xbox One consoles and revealed that only few number of devices being affected and to replace them asap. The acknowledgement came after several users posted their problems from the drive, which was giving a loud grinding noise from inside after inserting the disc and unable to play the discs. Lots of reviews and comments being reported on online stores and social networks. Even the gaming blog, Kotaku also reported about the issue and said that it has received more than 150 emails from defected Xbox One owners. IGN too reported on the drive issues. However, our review copy has no issues with the drives.

On Monday, Microsoft confirmed the problems in “few devices” and released the statement:

“We’re working directly with those affected to get a replacement console to them as soon as possible through our advance exchange program. Customers have the option for us to send a replacement console right away without waiting until they have returned their old one. This means a customer only has to wait a matter of days, rather than weeks to get back up and running.”

The problems and the sales numbers are very similar to Sony PS4, however the PS4 had “blue screen of death” issues and later the company affirmed that the “less than 1 percent” damaged shipping was the reason for the defects. On Friday, Microsoft has announced that it has sold more than 1 million consoles in day-one.
