Recently, Apple revealed that its iPads and iPhones sales were badly affected by the copying by Samsung’s devices and the new decision will fetch precisely, $290,456,793 from the Korean electronics giant.

Jury has found Samsung’s guilty of infringing on Apple’s additional patents and gave order to pay $290 million to Apple Inc. Adding this sum to the previous similar judgement of $599 million makes total of $890 million fine from Samsung. The previous original fine was $1.05 billion and was then reduced to $599 million after the reconsidering trial.

Apple seems quite happy with the outcome and obviously, Samsung is disappointed, here are both firm’s statements after the judgement:

Samsung said:

“We are disappointed by today’s decision, which is based in large part on a patent that the US Patent and Trademark Office has recently deemed invalid. While we move forward with our post-trial motions and appeals, we will continue to innovate with groundbreaking technologies and great products that are loved by our many customers all around the world.”

Apple said:

“For Apple, this case has always been about more than patents and money. It has been about innovation and the hard work that goes into inventing products that people love. While it’s impossible to put a price tag on those values, we are grateful to the jury for showing Samsung that copying has a cost.”

Prior to this judgement, Apple’s plead to the court was $380 million and Samsung’s expectation was $55 million. This means the judgement came more in favor of Apple Inc. However, who knows – Samsung might made double of this money by selling those patent infringed products. But, this patent war seems not going to end – Apple announced to try to reach the court to raise the fine amount following the Samsung’s announcement of re-appealing to reduce the fine amount.
