Qualcomm announced Snapdragon 805 CPU with Adreno 420 GPU and a faster LTE modem


Qualcomm announced to release the successor to the current fastest Snapdragon 800 CPU termed as Snapdragon 805 Ultra HD quad-core processor aiming at providing UltraHD mobile video playback.

Qualcomm says that Snapdragon 805 CPU comes with Adreno 420 GPU with 40 percent more graphics performance that previous models and four cores of the Krait 450 CPU will run at 2.5GHz speed each with maximum of 25.6GB per second iteraction with memory to run the apps faster. However, Chinese manufacturer Huawei recently announced the true octa-core processor, which enables all 8 cores to run simultaneously.

The company also said that the new S805 processor enables the ultraHD video playback on Smart TV, smartphones and even on tablets with 4K video viewing both on device or ultraHD Tvs. It also comes with the 28nm Gobi MDM9x25 modem, which supports 150Mbps LTE4 as well as LTE carrier aggregation. Another high-end version of the chipset will include 20nm Gobi MDM9x35 modem along with WTR3925 chip to support double data speed of the first model via LTE advanced.

“We’re excited to be expanding our portfolio with a fourth generation of 3G/LTE multimode connectivity solutions,” said Cristiano Amon, executive vice president, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., and co-president, QCT. “Not only do these products extend our industry-leading Gobi roadmap, they enable the creation of thinner and more efficient mobile devices capable of connecting to the fastest 4G LTE Advanced networks worldwide.”

Finally, S805 chipset comes with the enhanced dual camera processors, which supports gigapixel per second throughput to bring significant camera speed and quality with the integration of gyro integration. In their press release, the company said,

Qualcomm Technologies is the first to announce a mobile processor with advanced, low-power, integrated sensor processing, enabled by its custom DSP, designed to deliver a wide range of sensor-enabled mobile experiences.

However, it’s just an announcement and its in sampling phase as of now. The Snapdragon 805 processor will be released with the new model of smartphone during the first half of 2014.
